DICOM을 활용한 흉부사진 판독에서 노원구청과 보건소는 년4만-5만명의 흉부x레이 영상을 상계백병원 방사선과 주임교수에게 판독을 DICOM으로 의뢰하였다.
주임교수의 진료를 통하여 흉부질환자가 20여 가지로 선별진단되었다. 특이사항이 있는 시민은 상계백병원에서 CT 촬영을 하였다.
기관지염, 심장비대증, 폐암 등 진단율도 4-5배 껑충 뛰게 되어서 보건소 방사선장비 활용 효과가 크게 증대되었다.
보건증 발급용 흉부 x래아 사진은 대부분 젊은 계층 종사자가 많다. 서울시에 25개 보건소가 있으므로 1년이면 100만명이 DICOM 선별진단의 혜택을 받을 수 있게 된다.
